The nuclear submarine K-3 «Leninsky Komsomol» is one of the most impressive and historically significant exhibit in the museum. This is the legendary submarine with which the formation of the domestic nuclear submarine fleet began. The nuclear submarine K-3 was saved from scrapping thanks to a joint initiative of the Island of Forts project, the Russian Navy and "United Shipbuilding Corporation", whose goal is to preserve the boat as the central exhibit of the Museum naval glory of Russia.

The desire to give people the opportunity to touch history and place the submarine under the roof of the museum influenced the architectural solution of the complex itself because the display of life-size objects of such size is unprecedented and has no analogues in the world.

In 2021, the submarine Leninsky Komsomol was moved from the city. Snezhnozhnogorsk, Murmansk Region, to Kronstadt. The K-3 was transported in the Sviyaga transport and loading dock of the Main Directorate of Deep Sea Research of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. This operation was one of a kind, not only because equipment of this size had not been moved across the country before, but also because the dimensions of the submarine became a real problem for relocation. However, thanks to the team's brilliant work, the operation was a success, and the submarine took center stage at the Navy's Museum of Military Glory.
